Sherborne is famous for its Abbey and its historical beauty. Most of the old town, including the Abbey, is either medieval or Georgian and its new castle was built by Sir Walter Raleigh.
It has a market every Thursday and Saturday in the summer months, where you can buy anything from plants, bread and sushi to jewellery, furniture and fresh fish! The town boasts an ecclectic town centre (which is pedestrianised) and has lots of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs to peruse at your leisure.
Whether it's nature, history or retail therapy, Sherborne has it all. Situated just off the A30, 6 miles east of Yeovil, Sherborne is the gem of North Dorset. It has 2 castles (yes 2!), an old and a new one, the River Yeo to walk along, Pageant gardens to picnic in, loads of independent retailers to shop in and is a short drive from the County Town of Dorchester and coastal towns such as Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
Sherborne is peaceful and quiet, as well as beautiful. It's a safe haven away from the chaos of town and city life and is a perfect location to explore Dorset and Somerset and all the wonderful attractions these counties offer.
Popular for weddings, the Abbey and many of Sherborne churches are only a short walk away. It is important to mention we offer our guests their own dedicated parking space..
Sherborne's train station is a 6 minute walk away, running direct from London Waterloo through to Penzance. The line also takes you to Bath and Bristol if you fancy a day in a city.
